  1. @mdrockwell I’ve been playing around with Linux Mint, both on physical hardware and in a virtual machine, and have been pleasantly surprised. I’m not yet ready to use it as my primary OS, but I could see myself repurposing my current Mac as a Linux system in a few years time.

  2. @wearsmanyhats I think I’m just interested in exploring something different. And in terms of my computing needs, my iPad and iPhone do the vast majority of the work. I really only need a personal laptop when I’m working on some code-level changes to my websites — a browser, text editor, and FTP client. I think Linux would be sufficient for that.

  3. @mdrockwell I kept an extra SSD with Manjaro, and used to boot into that on the MacBook Air every time, except when I needed to use Lightroom. The constant fan going at full speed updating Photos drove me crazy (still does!) and I was very happy living on the Linux side. Had a lot of fun, and it was great for almost everything. Missed a couple of apps, but no big deal.
