  1. Agreed. This is why I’m using Jetpack’s email subscriptions on my blog. I think it’s important to be where people are, but by owning my domain, the home for all my words is still controlled by me.

    1. I agree 100%. I offer an email subscription (also through Jetpack) for my main site too. It’s not particularly popular, but I also don’t promote it too much.

      But a weblog + email subscription option is far superior to an email newsletter-specific setup.

      1. Oh weird… I didn’t get a notification for this reply. I totally agree! I’ve seen many go the Substack route and while it looks great (and I certainly don’t disparage anyone who chooses Substack), owning the origin of those words is important to me. If not for anything else but self-archival.
